BRAX MATRIX ML8 SUB
Precision in Perfection
The legendary BRAX MATRIX loudspeaker series—long synonymous with state-of-the-art sound quality—is now expanded with the ML8 SUB. Developed and manufactured uncompromisingly like all BRAX loudspeakers, it pursues the goal of acoustic perfection.
For years, the BRAX subwoofer has been the benchmark for precision and controlled bass reproduction. The ML8 SUB pushes boundaries further by delivering deep, powerful bass even in the smallest enclosures. Every component is engineered for dynamic performance and perfect tonality, designed to convert massive amplifier power into distortion-free sound pressure without compression.
MicroSphere – Balancing Stiffness and Damping
Achieving maximum cone stiffness along with high internal damping may seem impossible—but the unique MicroSphere coating makes it real. Ceramic micro-hollow spheres, only 75 microns in diameter, are embedded in a polymer layer applied to the diaphragm, delivering unmatched acoustic precision and sound quality.
Timeless Elegance
BRAX products are known for their clear and minimalist design language, and the ML8 SUB follows this philosophy flawlessly. The finest materials are highlighted by the optionally available MR8 stainless steel ring, usable as a mounting ring or grille retainer depending on installation. The subwoofer is presented in a noble wooden box, each unit individually serial-numbered and registered in the BRAX service database.

Recommended Enclosure Volumes
Sealed Box
Enclosure Size | Net Volume | Lower Limiting Frequency (-3 dB) | DSP Highpass Filter Setting |
---|---|---|---|
Optimal | 17 L | 43 Hz | Frequency: 32 Hz, Q-Factor: 1.0, Characteristic: Self-define |
Minimal | 10 L | 48 Hz | Frequency: 35 Hz, Q-Factor: 1.0, Characteristic: Self-define |
Note: These volumes refer to unfilled enclosures without damping material. Volume can be reduced by filling with appropriate materials:
-
Polyester wadding reduces volume by up to 5%
-
Mineral wool or rock wool reduces volume by up to 10%
-
Sheep wool reduces volume by up to 20%
Important: Damping vented enclosures (used below 150 Hz) is generally counterproductive as it reduces the effectiveness of the bass reflex port.
